About us

What is the Inter Schools Advertiser?

The Inter Schools Advertiser is a printed magazine and on-line resource allowing pupils, parents, staff and friends of our participating schools and nurseries in the South London area to advertise items of interest and services in a safe and familiar environment.

It is a great place to find a tutor, a family holiday home and a camp or course available during the school holidays. It also acts as a small business directory, many of our business advertisers are parents from our participating schools. All our advertisers offer products and services suitable for the family and home environment.

We print and distribute 15,000 copies to the parents of children in 85 Independent Schools and Private Nurseries throughout South London; including Dulwich College, Alleyn's, JAGS, Sydenham High, Streatham & Clapham HS and Broomwood Hall. The magazine is free to all parents and staff; the only charge made is to the person who is advertising. We estimate our readership to be in excess of 30,000.

There are three issues a year in February, May and November.

Our Participating Schools and Nurseries

Our participating schools and nurseries are listed in our Schools and Nurseries section. We are always looking to increase our circulation so if you are an independent school or private nursery within South London and would like to become a participating member please email us at info@interschoolsadvertiser.com to find out if you qualify and what is involved.

It is a very useful magazine for Schools to promote themselves. Many of our schools advertise their Open Mornings, Fairs and Staff Vacancies and provide articles for the News Pages - all these options are FREE. All participating schools are offered a free Display advert on our easy-to-use website. Display adverts in the printed version of the magazine are available at greatly reduced rates to our participating members.

Classified Advertisements

Two or three weeks before each issue 'classified booking forms' are distributed to schools who kindly hand them to pupils via the classroom. Some of our participating members email their parents a PDF of the booking form. Two or three weeks later the magazine itself is distributed in the same way.

Most classifieds advertisements are free to pupils, parents, staff and friends of our participating schools and nurseries. Only if you have access to a code found in our magazine (page 3) or on our booking form will you be able to upload an advert and your advert can be viewed by anyone. People responding to adverts can only do so by clicking the 'Contact Advertiser' button. We take safety of our advertisers extremely seriously and therefore no telephone numbers or email addresses will be available on our website however advertisers can opt to have their contact details printed in the magazine.

History

During the 1980's while her husband was Headmaster of Dulwich College Prep School Bridget Woodcock started to produce, twice a year, an advertising magazine (known then as the Prep Advertiser) which proved very popular among parents.

In 1991 her husband retired and she produced the first Inter Schools Advertiser which in the intervening years went from strength to strength. She enlisted the help of Rod Peters (Old Alleynian) in 2002 and he along with his wife Jane ran the Inter Schools Advertiser for the next 13 years.

In January 2015 Rod decided to retire and has passed the baton to David Stallard (Alleyn Old Boy) who improved the services available and increased circulation whilst keeping to the ideals that originally founded the magazine.

In April 2017 Sophie Keay took over the running of the magazine. As a mother to 3 children, all educated in South London, she hopes to yet further improve the quality and content of the magazine - providing a service and important point of reference for both parents and local businesses.
