About Our College

David Game College is located in the heart of the City of London, close to some of London’s most iconic buildings and institutions. Founded in 1974, the college is within the Sir Cass’s Foundation building, one of the most prestigious and oldest educational foundations, dating back to 1748. The college offers a broad curriculum at GCSE and A level, as well as a University Foundation Programme and a vibrant EFL department. Accredited by Ofsted, David Game currently holds “Outstanding” in all categories.  As well as providing support to students for GCSE and pre-university preparation, the college has an advanced Medical Programme, run by an NHS consultant. Students are coached in how to prepare for aptitude tests, such as UKCAT and BMAT and additional coaching is available for LNAT and Oxbridge entrance tests. We pride ourselves on our focus and expertise in guiding students through the UCAS process and preparing them for university interviews and helping them make the right impression.

Our ethos is simple:  we want students to be optimistic about their futures, hard-working, resilient and above all, ambitious. For us there are no barriers to learning; students are encouraged to break free from any limiting self-doubts and not be defined or constrained by the past. This approach is reflected in our added value – which is significant. Students generally always improve their grades if retaking and the majority of students enter Russell Group universities of their choice.  In this regard, we have an excellent history of placing students at top flight universities, such as LSE, Imperial, UCL, King’s, Bath, Manchester, Queen Mary, and now, the Cass Business School.

Facilities

The College moved to its current location at 31 Jewry Street, in the City of London in May 2017 and students can enjoy the benefits of modern purpose-built facilities, including three state-of-the-art science laboratories, two university-sized lecture theatres, new art rooms, library, gym, and a spacious canteen.  Housed within a 60,000 sq. ft. building that was previously a central London university campus, the college affords plenty of space for students to enjoy student life.

As well as being surrounded by good transport links, the College is within walking distance from many of London's most famous attractions. Just a short walk from the Tower of London and the Gherkin, right in the heart of the City of London, with St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England all within 10 minutes’ walk.

Focus on Academic Excellence and Support

Students make rapid progress owing to our academic and pastoral support systems.   All teachers are subject specialists and are supported by a network of personal tutors as well as a Director of Studies and a Head of GCSE and Sixth Form. Attendance, test results and attitude to learning are all analysed to gain a personal profile of how each student is performing. Students who are failing to perform to an acceptable level are provided with extra support and guidance to bring them back on track.

Monitoring progress and contact with parents

Academic performance is closely monitored.  Teachers set and mark regular tests, giving tailored feedback to their classes.  A report is generated on a monthly basis so that parents can track progress online. The Heads of GCSE and Sixth form are always available to discuss a student’s progress with parents or Guardians.

Emphasis on Pastoral support

We provide a caring environment where students feel safe and valued.  Every student has a personal tutor who monitors their academic progress and supports their personal wellbeing.  We also have a dedicated student support officer and a councillor available so that where necessary students can have a private discussion about any concerns or issues.

Extra-curricular Activities

Outside of academics our students get involved with a wide range of extracurricular activities.  The student council help manage many events including charity fundraising and the end of year celebrations.  Many students enjoy the onsite gym facilities supervised by our head of PE and join in with the football and basketball teams. Our debating society meets regularly to discuss a range of topical issues and have been known to perform very well in national competitions.  Additional talks are provided on a wide range of relevant topics, including impression management, how to run a business and how best to revise.
