Spanish Bilingual Stream at The Roche School

The Roche School is delighted to be launching a Spanish Bilingual Stream in Reception 2022 in addition to its well-respected Reception classes.

Mornings in the Spanish Bilingual Stream will consist of the same high quality curriculum in English as the English Reception, and afternoons will involve National Curriculum-based lessons in Spanish, delivered by a fully qualified teacher with in-depth Spanish fluency.

The founder, Mrs Carmen Roche, shares her thoughts on the numerous benefits she has experienced of speaking other languages.

“Speaking another language, besides your mother tongue, allows you to integrate in different milieus and cultures. As a child, I relished adapting and changing according to where I found myself. I grew up in London, attended the French Lycée in South Kensington, and holidays were often spent in either Spain or Italy as I was fortunate to have a Spanish father and an Italian mother.

Familiarity with another language, combined with spending time in the country where it was spoken, opened my eyes to a wealth of traditions which enriched my knowledge and appreciation of many aspects of life. But perhaps simply the ability to communicate with many more people is reason enough to master another language.”
