I had hoped to fill this issue of the magazine with lovely stories about the Queen, her Jubilee celebrations and her connections with South London – having opened the Lambeth Academy in Clapham in October 2004. Sadly I ran out of time - and space! A few stories will be posted on our website in the next few days. Have fun if you have a Jubilee Street Party planned and do tag us any photos.
Lots of fabulous new business are popping up and we have mentioned just a few on our What’s New pages – new wine bars, coffee shops & restaurants as well as the opportunity to order a modern and versatile suit from Batch LDN in their first ‘batch’ order later this month, or have online collections of professionally designed planting schemes, by Soto, delivered straight to your garden!
As I write this, we are having our usual mixed bag of weather, UK’s ‘hottest day’ one minute and a full day of grey cloud and rain the next – why would we expect anything less – it is England after all! Dealing with the random weather will be something we will have to deal with over the summer as see the return of family holiday’s abroad, festivals, fetes and fairs. Our What’s On Guide is full of fabulous ideas for family fun during the school half term and summer holidays.
This issue includes inspiring interviews and insightful editorial; Robin Chatwin from Savills gives us the low-down on the South London Property Market, Founders of The Sophie Clarke Foundation tell us about their personal loss and the work their Foundation does to raise awareness and support others, we interview a Shout Volunteer about her vital role at the mental health helpline, Nutritionist Sam Bourne, gives us some guidance on boosting brain power for exam season and we talk to Nicholas Hewlett about his role as Head of St Dunstan’s College.
