THE PERFECT PRESENT FOR MOTHER'S DAY
Routine of everyday life can be a chore at the best of times but after my Mum died I found myself a bit more disgruntled than usual - I was starting to become unhinged - then my Dad died too - it was all becoming a bit much!
Clearing out the family home I found 30 years worth of diaries Mum had written - in their ordinary, everyday and often trite delivery they inspired me to start asking questions.
I began a project - interviewing women about how they ‘do life’. The nitty gritty of life - inside and out. I gathered 100 women to my kitchen table (not all at once) and asked them the same 18 questions. Over 4 years I got insight, honesty and so much wisdom - it was too good not to share.
Now this is where the challenge began - I had to squeeze out of my comfort zone. With no previous knowledge or skill set I battled with self-doubt and 7 years later produced this inspirational, self-help book.
It’s a really lovely book and I can say that because it’s not only my words but also those of 100 women. Its full of integrity, openness and honesty. It’s not a great work of literature - it’s “A compassionate and insightful book that grapples with everyday life”.
